The Meghalaya honey trail: beekeepers of the Khasi hills sell sweetness with a story

The honey of the Khasi hills — dark, floral, and gathered from the wild by a tradition of cliff and log beekeeping — is being organised into a certified, traced product by a cooperative in Mawkdok.

Each jar carries the apiary’s name and a harvest date, and the premium flows back to the beekeepers and their forest care.

The cooperative’s next project: a ‘honey trail’ of tasting villages for travellers.
