Mizoram’s first roller derby team: skates arrive in the hills

The first roller derby team in Mizoram — twelve women, a rented basketball court and a coach who learned the sport from YouTube — is taking shape in Aizawl.

The team has petitioned the state sports council for a proper rink, and its practices have drawn curious crowds.

The founders are used to the questions. ‘Why not? The hills have no flat land. We will make our own.’
